Apple Cake im baking for when my cousins come over for Easter today
while i was with my dad, we went out and bought the Hunger Games cookbook, completely legit, his girlfriemd didnt want it so i got to bring it home to work with, this is my first recipe from it
Harvest Heirloom Apple Cake
yields 8-10 servings
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 1/4 cups vegetable oil (no lie. lol)
3 eggs, beaten
2 teaspoons vailla extract
6 heirloom apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
1 cup walnuts, chopped
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly grease a 9" springform pan.
2. Combine flour, sugar, baking soda, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, and salt. Stir to blend. Stir in oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. The mixture will be dense.
3. Stir in apples and walnuts. Pour batter into springform pan and bake for about 75 minutes or until the top of the cake is crusty and dark brown.
4. Remove from oven and let cool for 15-20 minutes. Run a knife around the edges of the cake before releasing it from the springform pan. Will keep for several days at room temperature.
Tips from your sponsor: If no heirloom apples are available, try using Jonathan, Red Delicious, or Golden Delicious apples.
